World Water Crisis

Each year, diarrheal diseases cause at least 2 million deaths and 4 billion cases of acute illness, primarily among infants and children under 5 years old. Nearly 90% of diarrheal disease is due to contaminated water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene.

The Aquaya Institute conducts applied research in three areas that, together, support the delivery of innovations for preventing diarrheal disease to people in need: technology development, product and service distribution, and impact evaluation.

We translate our research findings into on-the-ground impact by working with partners to expand the coverage of effective and sustainable solutions.
