Aquaya is seeking entrepreneurs to establish and operate small-scale water treatment and vending businesses in Kenya. These businesses will employ proven water treatment technologies to produce and supply high-quality drinking water to consumers at competitive prices. (Technologies will include mixed media and membrane filtration, disinfection via ultraviolet irradiation, chemical disinfection, and/or multi-barrier systems of varying scales. Target water vending capacities of these businesses range from 2,000 to 50,000 liters/day.)
If selected to participate in our program, you will receive:
• A clear business plan for the enterprise, including market research on consumer demand for the selected market
• Assistance obtaining a loan in order to purchase equipment and support the startup of the business.
• Technical and regulatory support
• Logistical support
• Quality control/quality assurance services
• Assistance in building a lasting business
Partners should be prepared to staff and oversee operations for a minimum 24 month period, with an objective of business ownership for extended (5-10 year) operation.
Candidate partners will be expected to demonstrate prior success in establishing and growing retail businesses in East Africa. In addition, they will be expected to assist in evaluating possible sites for system installations, including a characterization of local water supply and water quality conditions as well as an understanding of any competing service providers.
